My Top 10: Things I Want Accomplished 10 Years From Now

Day 2 list:

  1. Travel more (I’ve traveled a pretty good amount in the last 10 years, but in the next 1o I want to do more.  I want to see Spain, France, Australia, South America, lots of stuff in the US.)
  2. Have a second baby (I love my son more than anything in the world, but I want two, and I definitely don’t want to wait ten years for number 2!)
  3. Make a movie (This goal has been going for about 20 years and I have made some short films, but I want to make a feature length movie.)
  4. Write a novel (So three years ago I wrote 180 pages of a novel before realizing it was going no where.  I just started a novel as my thesis to get my MA, so this goal might be accomplished in the next year.)
  5. Go indoor skydiving (I’m currently over the weight limit but I’ve wanted to do this for a while.  So the goal is to get back under the weight limit and go.)
  6. Learn to surf (I took a surf lesson a few years ago and did ok, but again due to my weight had difficulty.  If I lose some weight I think I’ll be able to pop up, especially since my arms are stronger than they were.)
  7. Learn Italian (I used to be lightly conversational in Spanish, and my wife was conversational in French and Portugeuse, but we want to share a foreign language and learn it together.  We think Italian is for us.)
  8. Get my MFA (I’m finishing my Master of Arts in Creative Writing, but if I ever want to teach at a college I’ll basically need to get my MFA.  Also I’m not sure I can quit school after 30 years.)
  9. Get off gas (I don’t want to be subject to gas prices.  I’m currently driving a hybrid but in ten years I hope to have gone electric.)
  10. Improve the world (Maybe a big goal, and it is a life goal, but I want the world to better for my son and I have to start now.)

So these are my goals for the next decade.  What are your goals?  Let me know.
